Scope and content
Item is an example of a Roman-Style chasuble commonly worn prior to the start of the Second Vatican Council. The purple colour indicates that this chasuble would have been worn during Advent and from Septuagesima to Easter, on vigiles that are dast days, on ember-days, except the Vigil of Pentecost and the ember-days during the octave of Pentecost. Violet (or purple) is also used used for Mass on rogation-days, for votive Masses of the Passion and of penitential characheter, at the blessing of cnadles and of holy water.
The front-side of the chasuable includes en embroidered grape motif in gold thread and the back-side includes and image of the "IHS" cross surrounded by same grape motife. The collor of the chasuble is made of lace.
