The file consists of correspondence that documents the relationship between the Archdiocese and various Colleges and Universities within the boundaries of the Archdiocese and includes correspondence with the University of Alberta, correspondence with St. Stephen's College (at the University of Alberta), correspondence with the Faculte St. Jean (previous called the College St. Jean), correspondence with Grant MacEwan University (previous called Grant MacEwan Community College), correspondence with The Kings University (previous called The Kings's College) and various other educational institutions.
The file also includes the records of the Interdenominational University Committee (ca.1960), and various other educational committees that have been formed.
The file consists of records that document the actions and activities of the Synod on the Family (previously known as the Synod Implementation Committee) and includes correspondence, meeting minutes, reports, surveys, handouts, resource materials and other miscellaneous records.

The fonds consists of administrative, business, financial, and historical records of St. Joseph Seminary which document the students, faculty, staff, and alumni of the seminary. The Fonds includes minutes of meetings of various councils and committees, correspondences, reports, memos, policies and procedures, reports and surveys, budgets, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, photographs, publications, and other miscellaneous records related to admission, evaluation, and ordination of seminarians, the education of seminarians, the financial administration of the seminary, the seminary buildings and facilities, hiring of staff and faculty, student life.
The fonds also consists of records which document the relationship between St. Joseph Seminary and Newman Theological College, the Archdiocese of Edmonton, other Canadian Seminaries, and other Canadian Dioceses.

The file consists of records that document the relationship between the Archdiocese and St. Joseph's College and includes documentation that sheds light on the relationship between the Christian Brothers, the Basilian Fathers, and the University of Alberta who have operated the College since its foundation in 1924.
The file consist of correspondence, meeting minutes (primarily of the Board of Govenors), executive committee records, statutes and other governance documents, financal records (including the Minutes of the Finance Committee, annual financial statements and Development Committee Minutes) and other miscellaneous documents.

The subseries consists of records that document the relationship between the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton and the Sacred Congregation includes records related to the roman curia, sacred congregations, tribunals, pontifical councils, pontifical commissions, pontifical committees, institutes connected with the holy sees, institutes of graduate studies in Rome and seminaries and national college in Rome.
The file consists of records that document the relationship between the Archdiocese and the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and includes reports and correspondence as well as documents related to conferences organized by the confraternity.
The file consists of records that document the approaches to religious education employed by the Archdiocese and includes correspondence and resource materials focused on particular issues and topics such as confirmation, first communion and first confession.
