Each square on the quilt represents (starting from the top left and going counter-clockwise): the current St. Emerence church, the first school building, a Bible which represents faith, Gagnon hardware store, the cemetery monument, Poiriers store, Shamrock Hotel, Riviere Qui Barre river, [Cyres] stopping place, street signs, the present school, and the original church building.
