Biographical history
Rev. Francis Peter Koolen was born on Aug. 21 1881 in Holland. He completed his theological studies in Holland with the Sacred Heart Fathers and was ordained into the priesthood on May 17, 1913. Shortly after in 1914 Rev. Koolen immigrated to Canada and served in many small missions inlcuding Prauge, Holden, Tofield, Ryle, Clyde, Newtow, Westlock, Dapp, Tawatinaw, Rochestre, Perryvale, Meanook, Mosside, Barrhead and Vimy. Rev. Koolen served as chaplin at St. Joseph's hospital in Radway and he also served as pastor at St. Edmund's parish in Edmonton. He passed away on January 10, 1956 and was burried in St. Joachim Cemetrey in Edmonton on Friday January 13, 1956.
