Rev. Felix Edward Otterson was born on June 25th, 1923 in Edmonton, Alberta to Edward Patrick Otterson and Margaret Anne Stevens. He studied theology at St. Joseph Seminary between 1944 and 1948 and was ordained to the priesthood on Feb. 8, 1948 at St. Joseph's Basilica by Archbishop MacDonald.
Rev. Otterson dedicated his life to education serving as teacher, professor, principal and chaplain at various educational institutions in Edmonton including St. Joseph's College, St. Joseph's High School, St. Mary's Boys High School, and Austin O'Brien High School.
In addition Rev. Otterson served the parish of St. John the Evangelist from 1986 until his retirement on Aug. 12, 1998.
Rev. Otterson was named a prelate of honour in recognition of his outstanding service in many aspects of church and community life. His legacy and contribution to education and the Edmonton Catholic Community were recognized by the dedication of the Monsignor Fee Otterson Catholic Elementary/Junion High School in 2010.
In 2011 he received an Alumni Honour award from the University of Alberta.
Rev. Otterson passed away on September 9, 2012.

Portée et contenu
The fonds consists primarily of photographs, albums and scrapbooks which document Msgr. Otterson's time at seminary and his early priesthood. There are very few photographs from his time spent as a teacher. Unfortunately, many of the photographs are unidentified.
In addition there are a few letters, newspaper clippings and other miscellaneous textual records such as cards, prayer cards, and invitations.
The fonds comprises a single series consisting of the following files:
1-1 : Personal papers (ca. 1948 - 1990)
1-2 : Newspaper clippings (ca. 1940 - 1960)
1-3 : Photograph album 1
1-4 : Photograph album 2
1-5 : Album # 3
1-6 : Photograph album 4 (located in vault, Shelf L2-4-1)
1-7 : Photographs from seminary days (ca. 1940-1950)
1-8 : General photographs (ca. 1950-2000)

État de conservation
Photograph album 2 and 3 were in very bad condition. The photographs were removed and newspaper clippings were photocopied. Photograph Album 4 will need conservation work in the future as it is in poor condition (very acidic, weak pages, many tears, etc.).
