The fonds consists of operational, administrative and business records which document activities of The Secretariat and its associations with other committees and entities associated with the planning and implementation of the Papal Visit.

The fonds includes meeting minutes, reports, budgets, correspondence, guidelines, policies, financial records, pamphlets, information files, reference materials, photographs, albums and ephemera materials. Furthermore, the fonds also includes Preliminary Policy Meeting Minutes which can be found in series four.

The subseries consists of records that document the relationship between the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton and the Holy See and includes information files on the Vatican, Holy See and Rome as well as information files on each of the popes, records related to the church councils (such as Vatican II), the Synod of Bishops and Canadian Cardinals.

The sub-series consists of records that document the various events and celebrations held by the Archdiocese to commemorate special anniversaries and occasions and includes meeting minutes, correspondence and other miscellaneous records.

Please note that the majority of records related to the visit of Pope John Paul II to Edmonton in 1984 are found in the Papal Visit Secretariat Fonds.
