The file contains annual reports from a variety of schools and hospitals in the Diocese of St. Albert (1906-1913) and the Archdiocese of Edmonton (1913-1920).
The school reports include details about the number of students enrolled at the school (including their age, grade, nationality and primary language), the classes taught at the school and the number of hours assigned to each class, the facilities (including the size of the school, the materials it was made of, the number of rooms, furniture and musical instruments) and general financial records of the school. Schools includes in these reports are as follows: St. Albert, Athabasca, Blood Reserve School, Calgary, Elm Park School, Hobbema School, Lac La Biche Schools, Morinville Schools, Onion Lake School, Peigan Reserve Schools, Pincher Creek School, Red Deer School, Saddle Lake School, St. Paul de Metis School, Trochu School, and others. Please note that some of these reports pertain to the administration and management of Indian Residential Schools (IRS).
The hospital reports contain detailed information on expenditures of the hospital, the staff (religious and no religious), the number of patients (in many cases distinguished by their nationality and/or religious affiliation), and other details pertaining to hospital administration. Hospitals included in these reports are as follows: Blood Reserve Hospital, Calgary Hospital, Castor Hospital, Daysland Hospital, Misericorida Hospital, Grey Nuns (Edmonton General) Hospital, and others.
These reports were created as a means of reporting the actions and activities of the schools and hospitals to the Bishop.
The sub-sub-series consists of records that document the relationship between the Archdiocese and various organizations that have provide charity and social service work to the people of the Archdiocese including the Catholic Charity Bureau, Catholic Charities, Catholic Social Services and Catholic Immigration Services and includes meeting minutes, correspondence, reports, memos and other miscellaneous documents.
