Archbishop O'Leary Fonds

The fonds consists of records which documents Archbishop O'Leary's actions and activities as the second Bishop of the Archdiocese of Edmonton and includes correspondence with priests and with the laity, copies of his sermons, addresses given to the Archbishop and addresses given by the Archbishop, records documenting various celebrations including the Archbishop's 25th Jubilee.

The fonds also includes a variety of personal documents, including correspondence with O'Leary's friends and family, personal documents and identification papers.

The fonds is arranged into the following series:

Photograph album contains black and white anc colour photographs taken by Archbishop MacNeil which document his actions and activities from the the Diocese of Antigonish and as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Edmonton. Album includes photographs from parishes and missions in Alberta. Several pages include photographs of Archbishop MacNeil with distinquished persons suchas as: The Honourable Peter Lougheed, Prime Minister Pierre E. Trudeau, Mayor Manning MacDonald of Sydney N.S., the Honourable Jeanne Sauve-Governor General of Canada, Pope John Paul II, and many others. The album also includes photographs from trips taken by MacNeil to Rome, Ethiopia, and Brazil. Many of the photographs are identified, however some are not

Photograph album contains black and white and colour photographs taken by Archbishop MacNeil which document his actions and activities as Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Edmonton. The album includes photographs of the Archbishop in Rome receiving the Pallium from Pope Paul VI, multiple photos from Rome with Pope John Paul II from the 'Ad Limina Visit" and the Beatification of three Canadian Saints. Several pages also include photographs of MacNeil receiving an Honorary Doctor of Law degree from St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, N.S., and from the University of Alberta, Edmonton. Many of the photos are identified, however some are not.
