This sub-series consists of files that relate to the administration of Baptisms and Professions of Faith in the Archdiocese and includes information about consent, sworn affidavits, professions of faith, change of rite and defections from the faith. In addition a file containing training and workshop materials developed by Canonical Services staff to educate and train parish staff on proper procedures surrounding baptism and profession of faith. Please note consent files should be reviewed in 2035 for possible destruction.

Regarding "Change of Rite" documents prior to 1968 change of rite documents were filed in 1.2.9.1 as these documents needed to be signed by the Apostolic Delegate. Sometime in the 1970s the process was changed and Bishops were able to handle the paper work within the Diocese. Unfortunately paperwork was not kept during these years and so there appears to be a major gap in documentation between 1968 and 1980.

The series consists of records which document the planning of the Papal Visit in Canada and includes secretariat correspondence, scenarios of the visit in Edmonton, Rev. Tucci’s and Msgr. Magee’s Advance Visits, correspondence from the National Liturgy Desk and the Pastoral Planning Desk, along with incoming and outgoing general correspondence from Archbishop MacNeil.

The subseries consists of two files, one containing general information and correspondence about confirmation and the other containing the notes, meeting minutes and correspondence related to the actions and activities of the Archdiocesan Confirmation Committee. Please note in 2015 reference materials were weeded from these files.

Series consists of funeral service information, condolence letters and settlement of estate.

The subseries consists of records related to marriage dispensations and/or permissions. Included are marriage dispensation/permission papers, indexes to marriage dispensations, as well as marriage dispensation registers. Dispensations granted include those for disparity of cult, disparity of cult ad cautelam, consanguinity, affinity and canonical form. Permissions granted include mixed religion, teenage marriage, convalidation, sanatio, nihil obstat for second marriage, and testimonial letters.

Over the years three different index systems have been created to provide access to the papers. Marriage dispensations granted between 1920 and 1964 were recorded in registers, between 1964 and 1984 index cards were created (index cards are available in the archives vault), and since 1985 entries have been entered into Canstat. The series consists of a variety of printed materials which document the activities and life of the Sisters of the Precious Blood. Of particular interest are DVD copies of the 75th Anniversary celebrations of the sisters as well as the prayers, devotions and many miscellaneous printed documents which provide a bit of insight into the daily lives of the sisters.

Item is an example of Neo-Gothic chasuble, maniple, and stole set commonly used prior to the start of the Second Vatican Council and is a prime example of a pre-Paul VI motu. The red chasuable includes simple black bands along the boarders of the fabric. The back of the chasuble includes a gold detailed applique.
