The series consists of photographs, negatives, scrapbooks, and photograph albums belonging to Msgr. Fitzgerald. Included in this series are photographs taken by Msgr. Fitzgerald on several trips he took while at seminary.

In addition the series includes three scrapbooks containing photographs, newspaper clippings, and articles composed by Msgr. Fitzgerald while he was director of The Archdiocesan Communications Centre.

The series includes 9 photograph albums containing approximately 1200 photographs of the Alberta Papal Visit in 1984. The albums contain photographs of the Pope’s arrival and welcoming by various dignitaries, procession greeting the faithful, mass at Namao Base, Ecumenical mass at St. Joseph’s Basilica and the evening mass at Grey Nuns’ Centre. The series also includes photos from the Pope’s visit to Fort Edmonton, Elk Island National Park, various cultural groups, the Pope’s departure and visit in North West Territories.

In addition the series includes ca. 200 loose photographs of the Alberta Papal Visit, from various sources. These include the Pope’s arrival in Edmonton, mass at Namao, Evening Prayer at St. Joseph’s Basilica, and Departure. Furthermore, the series contains photos from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police headquarters of their Papal Visit Display. Included as well, are photographs from Photo Features Ltd. studio in Ottawa, which document the entire Alberta Papal Visit.
