Part of Archdiocese Archives Photograph Collection

This is a photograph of a plaque at Fort Edmonton Park for the original building of St. Anthony's church which was moved there in 1968. The plaque reads: "St Anthony's Chapel And Church. This is the original St. Anthony's Roman Catholic mission which stood on 105 Street and 84 Avenue. Dedicated in 1894 the Chapel served St. Joachim's Parish and the new town of South Edmonton. Oblate priests, including Father Albert Lacombe, OMI regularly celebrated Mass in the Chapel. The Chapel was replaced by a brick church in 1901, and school was taught in the building until 1906. The Chapel was purchased by the Ukrainian Catholic Parish of St. Basil's in 1946. It was moved to Fort Edmonton Park in 1968 and re-dedicated."
