The series consists of records which related to the admission, education, evaluation, and ordination of seminarians and includes correspondence, reports, minutes of meetings, course evaluations, and course outlines and summaries.
Series is divided into five sub-series, Program formation and requirements records (1937-2002), Ordination requirements committee records (1988-2000), Pastoral internship records (1989-2008), Screening process committee records (1975-1993), and Pastoral education consultation committee records (1975-1993).
The sub-series consists of records related to the planning of various anniversary celebrations including the 50th, 60th, and 75th anniversaries celebrated by St. Joseph Seminary and includes meeting minutes, correspondence, lists of attendees, pamphlets, invitations and other miscellaneous documentation. In addition the sub-series includes lists of seminarians who attended St. Joseph Seminary compiled for the 75th anniversary.
The series consists of records which document the actions and activities of the Canadian Catholic Seminary Rector’s Committee and consists of correspondence, meeting minutes, documents from annual meetings and retreats as well as other miscellaneous records which document the relationship between the various rectors working in Catholic seminarians across Canada. Minutes include discussion of the role of spiritual direction, ordination requirements, reports from various seminaries and other information.
Series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence, and includes general and miscellaneous correspondence as received and sent by the secretary of SJS, correspondence from the Rectors to students, staff, professors, priests, members of religious orders, and others, as well as correspondence between the Rectors and the bishops of Canadian diocese.
Series is arranged into three subseries, General Correspondence (1986-2010), Rectors Correspondence (1935-2002), and Correspondence with the Bishops (1940-1999). Files are arranged mainly in chronological order.
The sub-series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence between the rector of St. Joseph Seminary and various bishops from across Canada, in particular those bishops who have sent men to study for the priesthood at St. Joseph Seminary.
The series consists of records which document planning and implementation of the annual Edmonton Association of Spiritual Director’s workshop and consists of correspondence, program information, biographies of speakers, handouts and resource materials as well as meeting minutes and agendas. A member from the Seminary formation team was always present at these meetings and events.
Series consists of invitations, agendas, correspondences, minutes, guest books, and newspaper clippings which document various events including, but not limited to, canonical visits, seminary retreats, milestone anniversary celebrations, feast days, guest speakers, conferences, and other events held at the seminary or attended by seminarians and/or faculty.

Series consists of drawings, plans, correspondence, minutes of meetings, and facility reports related to the renovation of St. Joseph’s Seminary and associated buildings.
Series consists of records which document the financial activities of St. Joseph’s Seminary and Newman Theological College and includes budgets, minutes of meetings, financial reports, information about scholarship and bursaries for students, seminarian loans and repayment, salary information for seminary staff. The series is by no means complete.
The sub-series consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence related to the general activities of the Seminary and is mainly of an informational content. It also includes correspondence with several religious communities including the Redemptorist fathers, the Suplicians, the Oblates, the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis, other Catholic organizations including the Legion of Mary, Serra Club, St. Basil Society, and the CCCB.
The sub-series consists of a variety of records documenting a variety of activities including open house events, special masses, visits from members of the hierarchy, which have taken place at St. Joseph Seminary and is comprised of guest books, invitations, event descriptions as well as planning and logistical records (such as correspondence, meeting minutes, agendas, reports).
The series consists of records which document the relationship between Newman Theological College and St. Joseph Seminary through the establishment of the Joint Strategic Planning Committee and includes meeting minutes, agendas, correspondence and other miscellaneous documents related to the development and implementation of a strategic plan for Newman and St. Joseph Seminary.
The sub-series consists of records which document the actions and activities of the ordination requirements committee and consists of meeting minutes, correspondence, proposals, evaluations, and other documents used to help create, establish, and implement ordination requirements at St. Joseph Seminary.
Series consists of pamphlets, posters and other promotional materials publicizing events held at SJS and NTC. Series also consists of newspaper clippings related to SJS and NTC, obituaries of Rectors and staff from SJS, and several programs from the Seminary Drama Society productions.
The sub-series consists of records which document the actions and activities of the Pastoral Education Consultation Committee and includes meeting minutes and correspondence.
The sub-series consists of records related to the mandatory pastoral internship that Seminarians do prior to their ordination and includes information about internship workshops and pastoral placements documented through meeting minutes, placement lists, guidelines, correspondence, reports and other miscellaneous records.
The series includes photographs, photograph albums, negatives and contact sheets which depict seminarians engaged in a variety of activities including attending mass, singing music, studying, eating, playing sports, etc.
Series consists of statues, policies, procedures, guidelines, regulations, rules, mandates, and mission statements which govern the actions and activities of staff and students of St. Joseph Seminary and Newman Theological College.
The sub-series consists of records which document program formation and program requirements for seminarians attending St. Joseph Seminary and includes evaluations, transcripts, reports, guidelines, program proposals, correspondence, course outlines, time tables, class lists and other relevant records.
