The fonds consists of operational, administrative and business records which document activities of The Secretariat and its associations with other committees and entities associated with the planning and implementation of the Papal Visit.

The fonds includes meeting minutes, reports, budgets, correspondence, guidelines, policies, financial records, pamphlets, information files, reference materials, photographs, albums and ephemera materials. Furthermore, the fonds also includes Preliminary Policy Meeting Minutes which can be found in series four.

The series consists of records which document the administrative activities of The Secretariat and includes acts of incorporation, correspondence regarding Pope John Paul’s II itinerary, the official program, official planning resources, correspondence with Msgr. Murphy and general correspondence.

The item contains one souvenir set sold to commemorate the Pope John Paul's visit to Canada. It includes the following: 1 lapel pin, 1 nickel/silver souvenir spoon with the official emblem, and 1 Stick Pin, baked enamel set off in 24 karat gold plating,

The items contains a limited edition Pope John Paul II Collector plate, released for the Papal Visit to Canada. The plate contains the bust of the Pope.

The series includes 9 photograph albums containing approximately 1200 photographs of the Alberta Papal Visit in 1984. The albums contain photographs of the Pope’s arrival and welcoming by various dignitaries, procession greeting the faithful, mass at Namao Base, Ecumenical mass at St. Joseph’s Basilica and the evening mass at Grey Nuns’ Centre. The series also includes photos from the Pope’s visit to Fort Edmonton, Elk Island National Park, various cultural groups, the Pope’s departure and visit in North West Territories.

In addition the series includes ca. 200 loose photographs of the Alberta Papal Visit, from various sources. These include the Pope’s arrival in Edmonton, mass at Namao, Evening Prayer at St. Joseph’s Basilica, and Departure. Furthermore, the series contains photos from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police headquarters of their Papal Visit Display. Included as well, are photographs from Photo Features Ltd. studio in Ottawa, which document the entire Alberta Papal Visit.
