The series consist of records that document the relationship between the Archdiocese and the three levels of Government in Canada, Federal, Provincial and Municipal and includes correspondence related to a variety of topics and subjects of interest to the Archdiocese including health, education, first nations peoples, justice, human rights, immigration, and culture.

The series is arranged into the following sub-series:

2.1 : Federal Government
2.2 : Provincial Government
2.3 : City of Edmonton
2.4 : Other Municipalities

The sub-series consists of records that document the relationship between the Archdiocese and the Federal Government and consists primarily of correspondence between the Archbishop and various Prime Ministers, Senators, and member of the House of Commons. The sub-sub-series also includes correspondence with various Departments of the Government including the Department of Customs, The Department of Education, the Department of Immigration, etc. Finally, the sub-series also includes some information documents and reports.
