The subseries consists of records that document the relationship between the Archdiocese of Edmonton and other episcopal entities such as other dioceses/archdiocese in Canada, the United States and overseas, the Canadian Military Ordinate, as well as Ukrainian Eparchies and various divisions of the Orthodox Church.

The subseries also consists of records that document the relationship between the Archdiocese and other episcopal entities in Alberta such as the Assembly of Western Catholic Bishops and the Alberta Conference of Catholic Bishops (ACCB), the Western Ecumenical Conference, the Alberta Church Consultation Committee, and the Alberta Diocesan Chancellors.

Finally the subseries consists of records that document the relationship between the Archdiocese and other non-Catholic Christian entities and includes correspondence with Anglican and Lutheran Bishops as well as other church leaders in Alberta.

The file consists of records that document the relations between the Archdiocese and the Commission for Christian Unity and includes records related to the Canadian Center of Ecumenism in Montreal, the National Anglican - Catholic Dialogue, the National United-Catholic Dialogue, the iner-church Social Justice Coalition, the Canadian Council of Churches relationship with the CCCB, and the Ecumenical Institute of Canada and consists primarily of correspondence and resource materials.

The file consists of records that document the relationship between the Ecumenical Commission and the Archdiocese. In 2004 the commission was closed and replaced with the Office of Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations and integrated into the formal structure of the Archdiocese. Records documenting the relationship between the Office of Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations and the Chancery can be found in this sub-sub-series.

As such the file consists of meeting minutes, correspondence reports and other memos. The sub-sub-series also consists of records that document various initiatives and activities carried out by the commission including organizing and participating in the Week of Christian Unity, organizing and participating in various dialogues between other faith groups in the Edmonton area, information on the World Day of Prayer, information on the Edmonton Interfaith Society and information related to other similar events and organizations.

The file consists of records that document the relationship between the Archdiocese and the Edmonton and District Council of Churches and includes correspondence and meeting minutes as well as other miscellaneous documents.

The file consists of correspondence that documents the relationship between the Archdiocese and various Colleges and Universities within the boundaries of the Archdiocese and includes correspondence with the University of Alberta, correspondence with St. Stephen's College (at the University of Alberta), correspondence with the Faculte St. Jean (previous called the College St. Jean), correspondence with Grant MacEwan University (previous called Grant MacEwan Community College), correspondence with The Kings University (previous called The Kings's College) and various other educational institutions.

The file also includes the records of the Interdenominational University Committee (ca.1960), and various other educational committees that have been formed.

The album included photographs from a week of prayer for Chrisitan unity and the Exhibition of "Anglicanism and the Western Christian Tradition" put on jointly by the members of the Anglican/Catholic dialogue in Edmonton. The album also includes newspaper clippings and a program guide for the exhibition. Archbishop Collins, members of the Anglican hierarchy, and Julien Hammond are present in the images.

The fonds consists of records which document the activities of the Commission for Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations from the time that a part-time employee was hired by the Archdiocese to oversee the activities of the commission until its transfer to the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis in 2003.. Early records of the Commission’s activities are unfortunately lost.

The fonds includes both Administrative Records such as correspondence and minutes of meetings, as well as subject files related to various groups and/or initiatives that the Commission was involved in. As such the fonds is arranged into the following two series

The fonds consists of records documenting the actions and activities of the Western Diocesan and Eparchial Coordinators for Ecumenism from their establishment in 1992. Files consist mainly of administrative records and include meeting minutes, correspondence and some reference materials.

Between 1999 and 2004 it appears that the WDECE was not meeting regularly, or at the very least no records exist from this period of time.
