Rev. Vincent Curtis was born on January 27, 1914 at Trepassey in the Diocese of St. John’s, Newfoundland to John M. Curtis and Helena Waddleton. He attended St. Joseph’s Seminary in Edmonton from 1933-1937 where he obtained his theological education. He was ordained on June 13, 1937 at the Seminary Chapel in Edmonton.
During his ministry he served from 1937-1938 as Pastor at Elk Point with the missions of Heinsbury, Lindbergh, and stations at Armistice and Primrose. From 1938-1940 as Pastor at Vilna. In 1940 he served as short term replacement at Winfield during Fr. Dillon’s sickness. From 1940-1941 he was the Assistant Pastor in Castor, serving the missions of Halkirk and N&D de Savoie. From 1941-1942 he was the Assistant Pastor in Winfield serving with Breton, Yeoford, Westernose, Minihik, Pendryl and Buck Lake as missions. In 1942-1945 he was the Pastor in Winfield. From 1945-1947 he was on sick leave and traveled to Cambridge, Massachustes and Tuscon, Arizona.
He served as pastor in Arizon from 1947-1960 and was excarindated from Edmonton on Feb. 22, 1960. One week later he was incardinaed in the Diocese of El Paso Texas. For the next twenty years he served in various parishes in El Paso and San Diego.
Rev. Curtis died on June 28, 1987.
