Rev. Leonard Cadieux was born on January 13, 1959 in Edmonton. He made his religious profession on Aug. 22, 1978 and entered the Oblates Novitiate at Battleford Saskatchewan on September 4, 1979 but left in 1980. For the next eight years Rev. Cadieux studied at various theological colleges in Canada and the United States including, Thomas College, North Battleford, St. Pius X Seminary, Saskatoon, Newman Theological College, Edmonton, Mount Angel Seminary in Oregon.
On February 16, 1988 he was ordained to the diaconate and after completing his Pastoral Year at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Sherwood Park he was ordained to the priesthood on May 29, 1989 by Archbishop McNeil at St. Joseph Basilica.
During his ministry he has served at several parishes including as Associate Pastor at St. Francise Xavier Parish in Camrose (1989-1990), Associate Pastor at St. Joseph Basilica in Edmonton (1990-1992), Pastor of St. Joseph Parish in Killiam and Missions (1992-1998), as rector of St. Joseph Basilica (1998-2001), and as Pastor at St. Michael's Parish in Leduc (2001-2011). In 2011 he was assigned Assumption Parish in Edmonton.
