        History

        Rev. Emile Briere was born on July 28, 1917 in St. Paul, Alberta. He attended St. Joseph Seminary in Edmonton where he studied theology between 1936 and 1940. He was ordained on June 23, 1940 at St. Joseph’s cathedral, Edmonton-Alberta by Archbishop John Hugh MacDonald of Edmonton. During his ministry in Edmonton he served as Pastor in Mornville (1940-1941), Rosary Hall, St. Vincen'ts Convent and the Marian Centre. In 1963 he was incardinated in the Diocese of Pembroke where he served for the remainder of his years a priest.

        Rev. Emile Briere died on June 16, 2003 at the age of 85. A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on June 19, in Combermere.
