The series consists of diplomas, certificates, medals, and other documents given to Archbishop MacNeil as tribute to his contribution to Roman Catholic Community of Canada and includes his high school diploma from the Sydney Academie (1941), an honorary membership with the Ancient and Loyal Order of Gentlemen and Cod Jiggers (1970), an honorary degree from St. Francis Xavier University (1987), an honorary degree of Laws from the University of Albert (1982), an honorary degree from the Pontifical Institute of Medieval Studies in Rome (1999), an honorary degree from St. Stephen's College (2000), a commemorative medal for the 125th anniversary of the confederation of Canada (1992), and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal (2013).
In 2014 Archbishop MacNeil celebrated his 90th birthday. This series also includes a variety of "official" letters congratulating him on this achievement and includes letters from the Mayor of Edmonton, the Senate of Canada, the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, the Prime Minister of Canada and many others.
The series also includes various documents from Rome including the document naming Archbishop MacNeil as a Domestic Prelate (Monsignor) (1964), the document naming him Bishop of the Diocese of St. John (1969), and the document naming him Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Edmonton (1973).
Also included in this series are the five graduation stoles given to Archbishop MacNeil and includes a stole from St. Thomas University, the Pontifical Institute of Medieval Studies, St. Stephen College, University of Alberta and St. Francis Xavier University.
The series contains two files consisting of official thank you letters, cards and correspondence related to the planning and celebration of Archbishop MacNeil's 90th birthday. Two books and a "Life of Grace" binder did not fit in the box and are stored on the shelf with the rest of the Fonds.
