Beauparlant, Rev. Mederic

Rev. Mederic Toncrede Beauparlant was born on Nov. 28, 1863 at St. Damien de Brandon. He attended the Grande Seminary de Jolieete and Montreal where he received his theological education. He was ordained on May 23, 1891 by Archbishop Fabre of Montreal.

Rev. Beauparlant entered the congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate on September 7, 1905 and took his Perpetual Vows at Liege on Oct. 6, 1911.

During the early years of his ministry he served in the Archdiocese of Montreal as Assistant Pastor at St. Jerome (1891-1892), St. Janvier (1892-1893), and St. Anne de Bellevue (1893-1896). He then came to the Diocese of St. Albert and served as the Assistant Pastor at St. Vital Parish in Beaumont (1896-1897). In 1897 he returned to the Archdiocese of Montreal and did not return to Alberta.

Campbell, Rev. Francis

Rev. Francis Leo Campbell was born on February 26, 1902 in Kenkora, Prince Edward Island. He attended Le Grande Seminarie du Quebec from 1925-1926 and the Scholasticate Seminary; in Edmonton from 1926-1929 where he received his theological education. He was ordained on December 9, 192 by Archbishop Henry Joseph O’Leary for ministry in the Archdiocese of Edmonton.

From 1929-1930 he was the Assistant Pastor at St. Anthony’s Pro. Cathedral in Edmonton as well as a Professor of Ethics and Sociology at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Edmonton. In May of 1930 went on loan to the Archdiocese of Regina with Archbishop James Charles McGuigan serving as his secretary. The following September it was discoved that Rev. Campbell had an advance form of Tuberculosis and he spent the next seven years hospitalized at Providence Hospital in Moose Jaw. After recovering he served as Chaplain for the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine heart of Jesus, St. Catherine, Ontario in the 1940s and 1950s. In the 1960s he served as Assistant Pastor in Wainfleet located in the Diocese of St. Catherines.

Rev. Campbell retired in 1968 and lived at Mount Carmel Home for the Aged in St. Catherine Onatior until his death on February 28, 1969.

Currier, Rev. Thomas

Joseph Thomas Currier was born on November 13, 1893 in Tilbury, Ontario to William Currier and Bridget Ellen McMahon. He obtained his theoglocial education at St. Peter’s Seminary in London, Ontario and was ordained to the priesthood on May 21, 1921 at St. Peter’s Cathedral in London, Ontario by Bishop Michael Francis Fallon.

On June 27, 1921 he was excardinated from the Diocese of London and one month later, July 26, 1921, was incardinated in the Archdiocese of Edmonton.

During his ministry in Edmonton he serevd at St. Anthony's Pro-Cathedral (1921), as Pastor in Veteran and missions (1921-1924), and as Pastor in Tofiled and missions (1924-1926). In 1926 he left the Archdiocese of Edmonton and moved to the Eastern United States of America where he served as Assistant Pastor at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Detroit, Michigan (1927-1932), Chaplain at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbour Michigan and as an Assistant Pastor in Pontiac, Michigan.

Rev. Currier died on November 19, 1956 at Pontiac, Michigan.

Mireau, Rev. Michael

Michael Mireau was born September 22nd, 1972 to Maurice and Linda Mireau. He was raised in a Catholic home. A stepping stone to his vocation would be his association with Camp Encounter, a Catholic summer camp, where he first attended as a child/teenager and later as a councillor with a leadership role. He studied Physics receiving a Master of Science in Mathematical Physics before answering his call to the priestly vocation. In August 1987 he entered seminary formation at St. Joseph Seminary. In 1999 he was sent to Good Shepherd Parish, Edmonton for his internship year. Completing the internship he returned to St. Joseph Seminary in 2000 and finished his academic studies in the spring of 2001. As a transitional deacon Michael Mireau was given the Parish of Villeneuve to serve and preach in; he was also appointed to the Liturgy Commission Office. On April 30th, 2002 he was ordained to the priesthood by Archbishop Thomas Collins at St. Joseph's Basilica and was appointed as Associate Pastor to St. Theresa's Parish the following day. A year later, on August 6th 2003, Fr. Michael was made part of the Archdiocesan Vocation Team. In the next few years Fr. Michael would be appointed pastor in Leduc while also being part of the Archdiocesan Vocation Team. In 2010 Fr. Michael Mireau or "Fr. Catfish", as he was known by the youth, would be appointed to the role of Chaplain to Edmonton Catholic Schools. Unfortunately Fr. Michael was diagnosed with cancer during this time and his ministry to the schools would not be long. After battling with cancer for nearly four years Fr. Michael "Catfish" Mireau died September 22,2014. Archbishop Richard Smith presided the funeral Mass September 26, 2014 at St. Joseph's Basilica. A special reception was held after the funeral at St. Joseph's High School. Many students, youth and teachers were present at the funeral Mass. Fr. Michael's body was buried September 27th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Cemetery at Lac La Nonne.
